I invested some time to go through all the emails I received in the last time and I extracted the most common questions and put them on a FAQ page. I will extend this page continuously with new questions and answers.
As I said a few weeks ago I have some news regarding RTH: In the near future I will no longer be with my current company (which also uses RTH) and I will have to find new work. Since I’m not really sure if my new company will also use RTH it might be that my already limited time left for RTH will be even more limited.
But the good news is that in the meantime I will have some time left which I will invest to update documentation and help and there will be a new release of RTH including some minor fixes. This will be somewhen in September so stay tuned for more.
Today we reached the number of 20.000 downloads of RTH!
Lately there was little progress in RTH development but in the next few months this will change – the reason for this will be announced later.
Today, I once more received a bug fix implemented by an RTH-user and so I thought this would be a good opportunity to say “Thank you” to everybody out there who has submitted fixes or improvements to RTH!
As you can see on https://requirementsandtestinghub.wordpress.com/about/ my resources are very limited and so I’m really thankful for every help I can get and I try to include your submitted code as fast as possible!
Today I disabled (commented it out in the code) the “File-Type” drop-down box in the supporting-docs screen. I don’t think that anybody used this box in the past as it displayed the test-types instead of useful file-types. If you have used it in the past please let me know – the simple way to re-enable it is to remove the “#” charcters in line 758-765 in test_detail_page.php.
I’m very happy to announce that RTH 1.7.2 has been released – this is just a bugfix release where we have addressed the most important issues:
- Installation SQL script has been fixed
- Path to FCKEditor has been fixed
- Problem with download of supporting docs containing special characters in file name has been fixed
Please contact me for any questions or comments.
Lately we received some bug reports regarding 2 installation problems – fortunately we have solutions for the problems available 🙂
- The correct version of the rth.sql file can be downloaded here.
- If you experience any problems with FCKEditor (“Failed opening ‘./fckeditor/fckeditor.php’ for inclusion”) simply rename the folder “FCKEditor” to “fckeditor”
Both problems are fixed in CVS and will be part of the next release of RTH.
Sorry for any inconveniences!
Today I fixed another misspelling in RTH – actually I like fixing such minor issues out of 2 reasons:
- Obviously its quite easy to fix such things – just replace a string somewhere in the source code.
- Besides bugs in functionality I think its quite embarrassing to have misspellings or typos in a piece of software which will be used by software testers.
So please feel free to contact me or open a tracker ticket if you find such issues – your help is very much appreciated!
26.3.2009: Just fixed another ticket in this area – thanks to Bonzaib for reporting it!
Again we tried to fix the problem with the FCKEditor path ( https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=789168&aid=2665395&group_id=153788 ). We fixed this in the past but it seems we re-introduced this item in the past so I fixed it again (actually it took me some time to figure out the CVS has no rename functionality like Subversion 😉 ).
The fix will be included in the next version of RTH but it may take some time until we can release this version – in the meantime just rename the folder “FCKEditor” to “fckeditor” if you experience any troubles with FCKEditor not found.
